I have always loved those dramatic pictures where the light has a major dance part and the background just somehow goes away. It didn't take too long to find the info and the name: Low-key photography. Unfortunately, most of the information on how to do it included things like aperture settings and shutter speeds. Looking down at my humble P&S, I wondered if there would any way to still make it work. I've done some experimenting, very rudimentary so far, involving a dark kitchen, a still life, and a naked bulb stuffed into a narrow cardboard box. So far, it is too harsh, but I might be onto something.
Has anyone else tried this?
